We are looking for a student assistant (8 h/week) to supporting GeoAI Street-level-Imagery projects starting May 1st, 2026.

The main focus will be the project “AI Logistic Awareness” (AILAS): In humanitarian missions, particularly in regions with few paved roads, access often depends on the condition of unpaved routes. AILAS employs a machine learning model trained on street-level imagery to classify the passability of road segments at a given time.

Your tasks:

  • Make use of street-level imagery to support decision-making in humanitarian operations
  • Support the development of data pipelines and analytical workflows
  • Data preparation, analysis, and visualization

Your profile:

  • Interest or background in geoinformatics, geography, machine learning or computer science
  • Basic Experience with Python and/or R (e.g. for data wrangling, visualization, or analysis)
  • Basic knowledge of GIS tools or spatial data
  • Structured and reliable working style, curiosity, and willingness to learn
