Student Assistant (m/f/d) for Outreach and Communications

HeiGIT (the Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology) performs applied research relating to geographic information. Results and data are made freely available for the benefit of the environment and society through stakeholders such as researchers and aid organizations & associations.
The core foci of HeiGIT range from supporting humanitarian missions with customized geodata, to developing intelligent routing solutions for disasters or heatwaves. HeiGIT also implements innovative methods from the fields of spatial data processing and machine learning to analyze, enrich, and visualize geodata (e.g. OpenStreetMap data), as well as offering practical data analysis for climate protection initiatives.

We at HeiGIT are looking for a student assistant (15 h/week) for Outreach and Communications starting on October 1st, 2025

Your Tasks

  • Content creation for our blogs, events, and social media - in English and German
  • Event organization
  • Website and design tasks

Your Profile

  • Experience with or interest in Social Media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Mastodon, Bluesky), blogging or journalism
  • Background or interest in geography, environmental topics, GIScience, or computer science
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Fluency in written and spoken German
  • Optional: Experience with graphic design (InDesign) and/or with website content (wordpress)
  • Flexibility and independence
